It is most appropriate that Professors Justo G. Alonso and Ana Bianchi be the current featured members of the WAPM. Both are native born Uruguayans and have a noble pedigree as they were trained by Roberto Caldeyro Barcia. Their interests are complimentary. Justo is the consummate clinical perinatologist and is Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology , Montevideo School of Medicine, University ofUruguay. Ana is a world class sonologist and is Chairman, Department of Perinatal Medicine , Pereira Rossell Medical Center, University of Uruguay and Public Health Ministry. In addition to being their national leaders, they have proven themselves to be outstanding world leaders most recently by hosting the recent10th WAPM Congress in Punta del Este. All who were fortunate to participate in this truly special event had their spirits touched by the beauty of the Uruguayan people and the leadership which Justo and Ana showed in their brilliant and dedicated organization. While all who visited may never be able to correctly pronounce “Somos Todos Uruguayos” in their North American, Catalan, or native tongue, we will always be transformed by the beauty and dedication to perinatal excellence which Justo and Ana are living exemplars of a small country with a big heart.
